U12 & U14 play their home games at Washington Elementary and practice at Rotary Fields in Eureka. Away games are hosted by our neighboring leagues and can occur as far south as Garberville/Redway, as far north as McKinleyville/Arcata, and east to Hoopa/Willow Creek. U18 Coed plays home games at Washington School in Eureka and may travel to similar locations as the U12 and U14.
Our recreation program requires early registration during the month of May. For more information on registration, please go to our REGISTRATION page. Teams are formed in June AND WILL ONLY BE FORMED BASED ON THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEER COACHES. Our volunteer coaches notify the players of team placement in early August, no earlier than August 15. Practice for recreation starts the week before Jamboree. HYSL is excited to be holding its Jamboree Fun-Day again this year, on Saturday, August 26, to be held at Redwood Fields. The regular game season will begin on Saturday, September 9. The last game may fall on either the last weekend of October, or the first weekend of November.
In November HYSL holds its annual Coaches & Sponsors Appreciation Dinner. This event is put together by our Board of Directors and includes a dutch auction and announcement of Coach(es) of the Year Awards.
COACHES are always needed and we encourage parents to get involved. Don’t be intimidated if you’ve never played. Soccer is such a fun game! There are plenty of ways to learn. Check out our Coaches Corner for more resources and information about coaching.
If anyone comes across websites that he/she would recommend and would like us to share with others, please let us know.
CAL NORTH requires that any adult who interacts with the players MUST participate in Live Scan fingerprinting prior to being approved for team assignment. This is mandatory for all adults who are rostered to a team. TEAMS WILL ONLY BE FORMED BASED ON THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEER COACHES WHO HAVE COMPLETED AND BEEN CLEARED THROUGH THE LIVE SCAN PROCESS.
HYSL requires that at least two adults be registered for every team. If the adults are married/partners, then we ask that a third person be listed who is willing to help should one or both of the primary coaches be unable to be present.
